Great Lakes/Immigration Songs and Slides

A multimedia program created for the Wisconsin Lake Schooner Project as an outreach program introducing the history of the Great Lakes and immigration to these shores. From the days of glaciers to our modern ports, this programs flows like our rivers through time. Songs in seven different languages about the people who came to populate the western shores of Lake Michigan present a multicultural view of our forefathers. Slides and songs teach us that we are "all in the same boat."

Schools studying the Great Lakes are encouraged to visit the Wisconsin Lake Schooner "Denis Sullivan" in the Port of Milwaukee for an educational field trip and if possible, experience sailing on this historic schooner. Call the Education Department at 414-276-7700 for information and access to a "Lakewatch Expedition" chest, which is loaned to schools and includes many maritime activities, Great Lakes educational activities, and a teacher's guide. This kit includes David's "A Schooner Songbag" CD and music notation.
